FAMILY UNIFICATION In twenty years of practice, our office has been in the midst of various immigration waves. In fact, our changing focuses can read like a timeline of recent global history. The Early 1980's: China had opened up after the fall of the Gang of Por?. Family unification with people from the People’s Republic of China was in demand, and we helped reunite many families. The Mid 1980's: The joint declaration between the UK and the PRC was signed and many Hong Kong residents contacted our firm. During this era, we focused on family unification from Hong Kong. The Late 1980's: Two words describe this time in recent history: Tienamen Square. We dedicated ourselves to assisting asylum candidates from China. We also focused on business investment cases from Taiwan. The Early 1990's: The Chinese economy was booming and most of our time was devoted to business and investment visas from Asia, most of which originated in the People’s Republic of China. The Late 1990's: This was the time of the Chinese-focused riots in Indonesia. Our office devoted a great deal of our time to seeking out political asylum for Chinese individuals from Indonesia. 2001: Now is the time of corporate downsizing, and we are focusing our services to best serve the growing numbers of soon-to-be laid off employees.
